Lipa Polepole – Social Connection Policy

REPORT OF THE AUDITOR – GENERAL ON NAIVAWASCO FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30TH JUNE 2020
August 20, 2022

The Social Connection Policy’s objective is to provide reliable, affordable and sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation to people living in low income areas. This policy also seeks to correct issues coming up due to low quality materials bought by the customers such as Non-Revenue Water.

This policy requires the customers to pay to the company the cost of materials and the company in turn procures quality materials for the customers. The customers pay the cost of the materials in installments over a period of time.  After a payment of at least 20% of the total charges, the balance can be paid in 12 monthly installments with the monthly water bills.

When applying for a water connection, a customer is required to fill the Social Connection Policy form (available at our offices) where he or she commits to paying a certain amount of money per month according to their ability. The company then purchases the materials needed and connects the customer. They immediately get access to reliable and quality water while clearing the cost with their bills.

The Social Connection Policy ensures that every Naivasha resident’s right to water is fulfilled by reducing the cost on new connections and improves the living standards of residents.
