In celebration of Mazingira Day 2025, the Naivasha Water and Sanitation Company (NAIVAWASCO) joined hands with Manera Primary School for a memorable tree planting exercise aimed at promoting environmental conservation and community awareness.
The event, held on October 11, 2025, brought together NAIVAWASCO staff, Manera Primary pupils, teachers, and members of the local community to mark this year’s Mazingira Day under the theme “Our Environment, Our Responsibility.”
Through this initiative, NAIVAWASCO reaffirmed its dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainable practices that protect both water resources and the natural ecosystems that sustain them.
Speaking during the event, representatives from NAIVAWASCO emphasized the importance of tree planting in enhancing water catchment areas, reducing soil erosion, and combating the effects of climate change.
Participants took part enthusiastically in planting dozens of indigenous trees within the school compound — symbolizing growth, renewal, and a shared responsibility for a greener tomorrow.
Beyond tree planting, the day also included environmental awareness talks where students were educated on the vital role trees play in maintaining clean water sources and a balanced environment.
By involving young learners, NAIVAWASCO hopes to nurture a new generation that values and protects the environment.
This activity forms part of NAIVAWASCO’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability strategy, which focuses on promoting environmental protection, improving sanitation, and ensuring access to clean, safe water for all.
Through initiatives like these, we continue to build a legacy of care — for both our people and our planet.
NAIVAWASCO extends heartfelt appreciation to Manera Primary School, community members, and staff who made this event a success.
Together, we can make every day a Mazingira Day by planting trees, protecting water sources, and safeguarding the environment for future generations.
